Master of Public Safety

WLU online program advisors are amazing! Even though I was a ‘virtual’ student I felt connected to WLU through their calls and emails. During the program, they would check-in to see how each course was going and asked if there were any additional support required.

What makes studying online at Wilfrid Laurier University special?

I was very excited to have been accepted into Wilfrid Laurier University’s online Graduate Diploma in Emergency Management. This program is my opportunity to personally grow, as well as expand my leadership and emergency management skills. Completing the graduate diploma will establish me to apply for Laurier’s Masters in Public Safety.

How has your program prepared you in your current role?

My knowledge has expanded to include an enhanced understanding in leadership, public safety, emergency planning, and interagency collaboration. I was exposed to current best practices in designing solutions to the potential challenges, constraints, and barriers affecting integrated emergency planning and preparedness.

How have your professors and advisors interacted with you to ensure your success in this program?

The online content and course materials are current and relevant. The syllabus provided prepares the student for the expectations of the course. With the program being online, students should be prepared to complete thoughtful discussion topics that will foster engagement with fellow students. There is a lot of work in completing an online program and it is important to allocate hours in the week to be able to immerse yourself in the online discussions and assigned readings.
