About Us

For more than a century, Laurier has been known for academic excellence. But we’ve also been dedicated to the philosophy that our students’ success is measured through more than grades – it’s based on the quality of the lives they lead, and those they inspire. Online learning is only part of the educational equation. Putting knowledge to work in the world is a hallmark of the Laurier Policing experience. You are encouraged to apply what you learn in class to your day-to-day job, then come full circle by bringing your real-world experiences back to the classroom. It’s about forming a foundation of service that our students continue long after graduation.

Wilfrid Laurier University has a strong reputation for excellence in both undergraduate and graduate teaching. Not only is Laurier known for their innovation in pedagogy, but they are also becoming recognized for their contributions to the criminal justice field. In fact, the research being conducted by faculty at Laurier in policing - such as intelligence led policing, community policing and mobilization, police women, and police responses to people in mental health crisis - is making them a Canadian leader in police studies. - Carrie Sanders, program coordinator, Policing
